**Looking for an Assistant Teacher in Bridgeport for the 24-25 School Year

**Can be year round position with working summers in Scottsbluff - transportation will be provided

 

 

Job Title:  Assistant Teacher

Department: Head Start/Early Head Start 

Education Level and Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Within first year of employment must complete Child Development Associates credential with infant/toddler coursework.

Reports To: Teacher/Education Supervisor

 

Required Job Tasks

Requirements:

  1. Ability to work with children who have a range of developmental levels, including those with special needs.
  2. Must possess ability to communicate effectively.
  3. Must possess ability to have good environmental awareness (visual and auditory responsiveness) to keep children safe.
  4. Within 90 days of employment (or sooner if required by local/state regulations), must obtain and continually maintain basic first aid and pediatric/adult CPR certification.

  6. A clear criminal records check (including child abuse registry check) is required prior to employment.
  7. Complete a health screening prior to employment and annually thereafter.
  8. Acceptable tuberculosis screening results prior to employment.
  9. To drive agency vehicles (if applicable), must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the ESU #13 insurance carrier and have a Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to ESU #13.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in establishing a classroom structure that maintains a safe, healthy, and nurturing educational environment, implementing program curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and research-based.
  2. Assist with all classroom activities including lesson plans, individualizing for children, anecdotal observations, supervision of children, screening, assessment of children, and maintaining documentation of program requirements.
  3. Follow Nebraska state standards and child care guidelines for education and positive guidance.
  4. Maintain standards of confidentiality regarding the program, children, families, staff, and community.
  5. Maintain regular communication and information sharing with center staff and within ESU teams.
  6. Interact in a skilled, respectful and sensitive manner to strengthen families as the primary nurturers of their children.
  7. Display positive work ethic through attendance, punctuality, productivity, dependability, and reliability.
  8. Promote positive parent and community involvement and document the in-kind match.
  9. Encourage connections with other agencies and the community.
  10. Recruit eligible children to ensure full enrollment.
  11. Participate in and contribute to team meetings and program assessment to ensure a quality program.
  12. Complete trainings as required by the program for professional growth.
  13. Effectively use and maintain materials, supplies, equipment, facilities and grounds to ensure facility meets local, state and federal requirements.
  14. Assist in other classrooms, on the bus, with parent meetings or Policy Council when necessary
  15. Maintain confidentiality of program, children, families and staff.
  16. Translate communication between program, child and family using family’s primary language when applicable.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by Teacher, Education Supervisor, Education Manager, Disability Manager, Health and Nutrition Manager, Family and Community Partnerships Manager, Assistant Director, and Program Director.
  18. Comply with the Standards for ESU #13 Employee Performance and Code of Ethics.

 

At-Will Position. This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the ESU 13 Administrator or ESU 13 Administrator’s designee.
